Quester Tangent’s Simulator, the second generation of training Simulators in use
at BC Rapid Transit Corporation is a key element in helping SkyTrain reduce
operator error and improve on-time performance. The Simulator includes high
definition video of the entire SkyTrain track and a sophisticated train and
guide-way model, integrated with an actual Mark II Driver Control Panel. The
Simulator includes an instructor station, and software to monitor the trainee’s
actions and evaluate trainee performance based on a configurable set of training
scenarios and testing criteria. The Simulator incorporates an interactive map of
the Sky Train track, and provides the instructor with the ability to vary
weight, engine thrust, braking effort and friction coefficients.
