Emergency Braking Acceleration Limiting Device |
Using an integrated accelerometer this safety critical
product takes control during an emergency braking event,
determines the appropriate rate of deceleration and controls
disk brakes, track brakes or engine brakes to bring the
train to a safe stop. The EBALD interaction is most
noticeable at slower speeds and can be critical to safety as
the train slows at the platform and passengers are preparing
to disembark. |
|
Brake Assurance Monitor |
This safety-critical product uses onboard information to
control disk brakes in support of an effective yet
comfortable stop. The BAM can help prevent wheel flats by
controlling brakes so as not to lock the wheels.

Passenger safety and comfort braking devices are proprietary systems designed specifically for driverless vehicles or vehicles running in automated phases. The QT BAM (Brake Assurance Monitor) and the QT EBALD (Emergency Brake Acceleration Limiting Device) supervise emergency braking systems to ensure greater customer comfort and minimize the instances of wheel flats. Similar to its approach with train management systems, Quester Tangent is taking a modular approach to the design and development of its Safety Critical Systems to optimize application potential and minimize costs.
